Detroit Quality Engineer Overview: 

The Quality Engineer will develop, enact, and take part in quality assurance activities at the Detroit, Michigan plant. He or she will work to understand and rectify defects in production processes as they arise.

Detroit Quality Engineer Job Opening

  • Organizes and executes the quality assurance process including but not limited to, analysis, inspection, design, testing, and integration.
  • The Quality Engineer will develop and keep control plans, updating them and refining them as necessary.
  • The Quality Engineer will perform the root cause analysis and 8D problem solving process in order to reach proper solutions.
  • Review and analyze design documentation to ensure it meets quality requirements at Detroit, Michigan.
  • Utilize statistical process control in order to understand data and know what parts of the process need to be modified.
  • Maintain documentation of all data gathered during quality control activities at the Detroit, Michigan site.
  • Utilize creative thinking to solve problems in the process.
  • The Quality Engineer will notify proper personnel of significant problems or issues found during quality assurance activities, and suggest remedies for the problems.
  • Develop and deliver reports on the findings gathered during quality assurance activities.
  • Develop and deliver technical or program information to personnel internally and externally.
  • The Quality Engineer will create and establish standards and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating products.
  • Develop a sampling procedure and a procedure for recording data acquired during quality assurance activities at the Detroit, Michigan site.
  • The Quality Engineer will develop and establish goals for the quality assurance team in line with company goals and priorities.
  • Notify management of significant quality issues or developments.
  • The Quality Engineer will develop and enact a quality assurance training program in collaboration with Quality Managers.
  • The Quality Engineer will field customer complaints, investigate the process and identify the cause of the problem.
  • Keep an up to date knowledge of government and industry quality standards.
Quality Engineer (Detroit Area) Job Requirements:
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of ten years of quality assurance experience.
  • Previous automotive industry experience.
  • An above average level of math skills. Understanding of statistics, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Experienced with Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint).
  • Quality Engineer certification.
  • Past experience with TS16949 quality standards.
  • Lean Six Sigma experience or certification is preferred.
