PLC Programmer Job Opening in the Ocala, Florida Area

A leading entity in the maintenance domain is actively seeking a PLC Programmer. The incumbent will be instrumental in designing, programming, repairing, and sustaining programmable logic controller (PLC) systems. The successful candidate will also ensure equipment integrity through scheduled maintenance in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.

PLC Programmer Job Description:

The role demands proactive preventive maintenance of PLC systems. The appointed individual will be critical in ensuring the seamless operation of advanced manufacturing equipment, conducting comprehensive breakdown analyses, and diagnosing and resolving intricate equipment malfunctions.

PLC Programmer Essential Duties:

  • Proactive preventive maintenance on PLC systems.
  • Facilitate repairs and installations for advanced production/manufacturing equipment.
  • Programming and repair tasks related to PLC systems.
  • Analysis of equipment breakdowns.
  • Diagnosing and rectifying complex equipment malfunctions.
  • Oversee general housekeeping duties.
  • Upgrading production lines with state-of-the-art equipment/technology.
  • Management and direction of external contractors on assigned projects.
  • Ensuring swift line changes for package transitions.
  • Mentorship and support to junior technicians.
  • Vigilant enforcement of safety and audit standards.
  • Self-management and independent operations within limited supervision.
  • Accurate documentation of work schedules and completed tasks.

PLC Programmer Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a technical assessment focused on essential maintenance knowledge areas.
  • Experience with:
    • Basic and advanced electrical systems.
    • Electronics including level probes, flow meters, drives/VFDs.
    • PLC systems.
    • Product manuals and schematics.
    • Troubleshooting techniques.

Helpful Experience:

  • Acquaintance with mechanical systems, compressors/ammonia systems, conveyors, pneumatics, SERVO, and preventative maintenance protocols.

Additional Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and the Microsoft suite.
  • Familiarity with process simulations and standardized operating procedures.
  • Advanced technical skills.
  • Proven ability to manage projects.
  • A minimum of 5 years in a manufacturing environment.
  • Effective management skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Active hands-on involvement.
  • Capability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Flexibility to bend, stoop, twist, squat, lift, and reach.
  • Ability to lift weights up to 50 pounds periodically.
