We are seeking a Sales Estimator to drive growth by generating opportunities, developing bids, and turning proposals into awarded projects within the airfield lighting sector. This role combines outside sales, estimating, and project support responsibilities.
Position Responsibilities
Sales & Relationship Building
- Engage with contractors, airports, engineers, and decision-makers.
- Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline.
- Serve as the primary contact for pricing, solutions, and customer inquiries.
- Follow up professionally until projects are awarded.
Estimating & Bid Development
- Review plans, specifications, and bid documents to determine full project scope.
- Develop accurate estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Obtain vendor pricing and subcontractor quotes.
- Create professional proposals that protect margins and win projects.
- Identify risks early and price projects accordingly.
Closing & Project Support
- Manage projects from first client contact through contract signing.
- Negotiate project scope and pricing with confidence.
- Support project execution post-award, including scope clarifications and change orders.
- Ensure customer satisfaction and project profitability.
Airfield Lighting Knowledge
- Understand or quickly learn FAA and airfield lighting requirements.
- Stay current on equipment, technology, and market pricing trends.
Prerequisites
- Experience in outside sales within construction, electrical, infrastructure, or related industries.
- Proficiency in estimating and reading plans/specifications.
- Strong organizational and multi-project management skills.
- Effective communication with customers, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Self-starter with a results-driven mindset.
- Airfield lighting experience is preferred but not required.
- Salesforce experience is a plus.
Certifications (Preferred, but not Required)
- Relevant sales or estimating certifications.
- Technical certifications in construction or electrical trades.
