We are seeking a skilled and experienced First Mate to support vessel operations, ensure safe navigation, and assist in managing the crew and daily maritime activities. The role requires strong leadership, operational expertise, and the ability to maintain compliance with maritime regulations.
Position Responsibilities
Navigation & Vessel Operations
- Assist the Captain in navigation and daily vessel operations.
- Monitor vessel performance and ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Maintain accurate logs and records of all ship activities.
Crew Management & Training
- Supervise and support crew members in daily tasks and safety procedures.
- Assist in training and mentoring crew to maintain operational standards.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to maritime safety regulations and company policies.
- Conduct regular safety drills and inspections.
- Report and address any operational or safety issues promptly.
Maintenance & Equipment Oversight
- Oversee vessel maintenance, including mechanical and safety equipment.
- Coordinate repairs and maintenance schedules with engineering and operations teams.
Operational Support
- Support the Captain with voyage planning, cargo handling, and logistics coordination.
- Assist in inventory management and provisioning for the vessel.
Prerequisites
- Proven experience as a First Mate or in a similar maritime leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of navigation, safety, and vessel operations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain composure in challenging conditions.
Certifications (Preferred, but Not Required)
- USCG Officer or Mate certification.
- STCW and other maritime safety certifications.
