We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tool Room Supervisor to lead a state-of-the-art, high-performance tooling operation. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with deep expertise in injection mold design, build, and maintenance — including prototyping and multi-cavity production tooling. This role requires exceptional leadership, problem-solving, and organizational abilities to oversee tool room operations, ensure efficiency, and drive continuous improvement.
Position Responsibilities
Leadership and Supervision
- Lead and supervise tool room operations from design through full production.
- Manage and mentor a cross-functional team of mold makers, process technicians, and maintenance staff.
- Oversee build scheduling, staffing, and performance across all shifts.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and technical excellence.
Technical and Operational Management
- Act as a liaison between customers, process engineering, and program management to ensure project alignment and communication.
- Ensure adherence to ISO, FDA, and other regulatory standards.
- Develop and maintain preventative maintenance programs to ensure tooling reliability and performance.
- Oversee mold design, build, and repair for Class 101–104 thermoplastic injection molds, ranging from 30 tons to 500 tons.
- Drive lean manufacturing initiatives, including 5S and continuous improvement practices.
Process and Quality Control
- Quickly troubleshoot and resolve mold and process issues to minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate production, maintenance, and quality documentation for audits and reporting.
- Ensure that all tooling meets precision specifications and performance requirements.
Prerequisites
- 15+ years of experience supervising injection mold tool rooms (Preferred).
- Proven expertise in mold design, build, and maintenance (Must).
- Experience with Class 101–104 thermoplastic injection molds, 30–500 tons (Must).
- Strong leadership and problem-solving abilities (Must).
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines (Must).
- Current or previous role in injection molding supervision (Nice to Have).
- Experience leading tool room operations with a long-term growth perspective (Preferred).
Certifications (Preferred, but not Required)
- Certification in Mold Design or Tool and Die Making.
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma Certification.
