We are seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead the inspection department and ensure that all manufactured parts meet strict customer and industry standards. This role is instrumental in driving quality control, managing inspection processes, resolving supplier and material quality issues, and overseeing CMM programming and reporting. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with a strong background in CNC machining, quality systems, and continuous improvement practices.
Position Responsibilities
Quality Management & Compliance
- Lead and manage the Quality department, ensuring compliance with AS9100 and ISO 9001 standards.
- Perform in-house inspections and internal audits; prepare and maintain key documentation such as FAIRs, PPAPs, and control plans.
- Manage and document inspection reports (IR) and maintain quality-related records.
- Oversee gage calibration, inspection tools, and documentation control.
Customer & Supplier Interaction
- Interact directly with customers to address deviations, discuss corrective actions, and find collaborative solutions.
- Maintain open, professional, and positive communication with customers to support strong working relationships.
- Manage or assist with supplier quality control and conduct incoming inspections to ensure supplier compliance.
Inspection & Process Improvement
- Operate and program CMM equipment to inspect precision components.
- Work directly with machinists and production staff to identify and correct issues at the source.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve product quality, reduce waste, and enhance efficiency.
- Maintain and analyze quality metrics to provide leadership with actionable insights.
Prerequisites
- 3+ years of quality experience in a job shop manufacturing environment.
- 5+ years of CNC machining knowledge.
- Strong understanding of GD&T, blueprint reading, and interpreting 2D and 3D CAD/CAM drawings.
- Familiarity with AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality management systems.
- Hands-on experience with PPAP, FAIRs, SPC, and basic quality tools (8D, FMEA, MSA).
- Proficiency with inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gages.
- Skilled in CMM operation and programming, including CAMIO, Mastercam, JobBoss, QC5000, or PolyWorks software.
- Knowledge of 5S, Lean Manufacturing, and process improvement methodologies.
