Overview
We are seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer / CNC Programming Lead — a hands-on technical leader who blends deep CNC programming expertise with process development, team leadership, and a passion for continuous improvement.
This individual will play a pivotal role in shaping and advancing our digital, data-driven, and lean manufacturing culture, supporting growth into aerospace, defense, and advanced manufacturing markets. Your voice will truly matter here — bureaucracy is minimal, and your impact is immediate. You’ll directly influence production efficiency and process development in real time, in an environment that embraces continuous improvement, cutting-edge technology, and positive change at every level.
Position Responsibilities
Programming & Process Development
- Develop and optimize CNC programs for a wide range of machines, including:
- Horizontal and vertical milling centers (4-axis, palletized systems)
- Multi-axis turning centers (live-tool lathes, mill-turn, and Swiss lathes)
- Design efficient setups, fixtures, and tooling strategies to maximize accuracy and throughput.
- Collaborate directly with machinists to refine methods, reduce cycle times, and improve part flow.
- Analyze part geometry and manufacturing intent to drive process improvements and reduce waste.
- Maintain standardized machining templates, tool libraries, and setup documentation.
Continuous Improvement & Lean Leadership
- Lead process improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, and repeatability.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles across production areas, using data from ProShop ERP.
- Identify and resolve production bottlenecks by collaborating with quality, planning, and operations teams.
- Drive digital integration and smart manufacturing practices throughout the shop floor.
Team Development & Collaboration
- Serve as a technical mentor to machinists and setup personnel, fostering a learning-oriented culture.
- Partner closely with:
- Quality Manager on manufacturability and inspection planning
- Production Planner on workflow optimization and scheduling alignment
- Shop Floor Lead on resource allocation and training
- Communicate effectively across leadership to maintain alignment on goals, timelines, and priorities.
Technology & Innovation
- Use ProShop ERP and other digital tools to standardize processes and ensure accurate documentation.
- Leverage AI and online tools for research, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.
- Participate in evaluating and implementing new manufacturing technologies, including automation, tool management, advanced CAM, and simulation.
Prerequisites
- 7+ years of CNC machining and programming experience across mill, lathe, and/or Swiss platforms.
- Proven ability to develop efficient, high-quality processes for complex parts and materials (aluminum, stainless, nickel alloys, etc.).
- Strong understanding of GD&T, workholding, tool selection, and inspection planning.
- Experience with modern CAD/CAM systems (e.g., Mastercam, Esprit, or similar) and ERP integration.
- Demonstrated success in leading or mentoring teams in a manufacturing environment.
- Comfortable balancing hands-on programming and shop-floor work with process-level strategy.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across functions.
- Adaptable and resourceful, thriving in a fast-paced, small-team environment.
Certifications (Preferred, but Not Required)
- AS9100 familiarity or related quality system experience
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma Certification
- CAD/CAM or CNC programming certifications
