We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Corporate Director of Purchasing to oversee all aspects of procurement operations across a national organization. This role is ideal for an experienced leader who excels at driving cost savings, optimizing supply chain performance, and fostering strong vendor relationships. The successful candidate will lead a team of procurement professionals and work closely with cross-functional departments to ensure sourcing strategies align with organizational goals.
Position Responsibilities
Procurement Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and implement procurement strategies that enhance efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and overall supply chain performance.
- Lead procurement teams in managing sourcing, contracting, and supplier relationships.
- Oversee supplier evaluations, negotiations, and contract execution to ensure quality, value, and timely delivery.
Operational Excellence & Cost Management
- Establish measurable procurement goals, including cost reduction targets and supplier performance metrics.
- Monitor and analyze procurement data to drive continuous improvement and process optimization.
- Identify opportunities to reduce supplier dependency and improve lead times and compliance rates.
Vendor Relations & Collaboration
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with key suppliers and manufacturers.
- Collaborate across departments to support project timelines, cost targets, and product availability.
- Represent the organization in high-level negotiations and supplier meetings.
Compliance & Performance Monitoring
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with internal policies and industry regulations.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as supplier quality, delivery reliability, and procurement cycle time.
- Stay informed of market trends and innovations to maintain a competitive sourcing edge.
Prerequisites
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- 8+ years of progressive procurement or purchasing experience, preferably in electrical, construction, or industrial environments.
- Proven track record in strategic sourcing, contract management, and supplier development.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with experience managing high-performing teams.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite and ERP or procurement software (e.g., Sage 300, AccuBid, KOJO).
- Ability to interpret financial reports and make data-driven decisions.
Certifications (Preferred, but not Required)
- Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP)
- Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt
