We are seeking an experienced and visionary Managing Director to lead overall operations at a train manufacturing site. This role requires a strategist and leader who can steer the site toward profitability while aligning with global vision, mission, and long-term goals. The Managing Director will ensure that short-term and long-term objectives are met without diverging from strategic guidelines.
Position Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Successfully implement company policies and develop strategic plans for the site
- Create initiatives to leverage market opportunities, mitigate risks, and strengthen core capabilities
- Define operational goals and ensure deployment of global strategies and action plans
Financial & Business Performance
- Deliver financial results by controlling budgets, sales, orders, profits, and cash flow
- Act as the site’s Legal Representative, ensuring compliance in all business operations
- Oversee customer relations, business development, and contract execution for train deliverables
Operations & Quality Management
- Manage workload in line with site/cluster strategy
- Implement and monitor Quality Management Systems and standard processes
- Ensure safety, security, and EHS compliance across all operations
- Establish and maintain crisis management systems
Stakeholder & Employee Relations
- Represent the company at the local level with key stakeholders
- Build and maintain constructive social and union relations in coordination with HR
- Provide guidance and training opportunities for staff to strengthen site cohesion
- Safeguard ethics and compliance policies in all business transactions
Transformation & Growth
- Drive implementation of transformation initiatives and continuous improvement programs
- Strengthen the company’s image and market presence through effective leadership and representation
Prerequisites
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related field
- 10–15 years of experience in the Transport, Automobile, Heavy Machinery, or Industrial Technology industries
- At least 10 years of proven experience in General Management with full P&L responsibility
- Strong background in people management and building high-performing teams
- Commercial acumen with ability to assess risks and opportunities for profitable decision-making
- Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship management skills
- International mindset with strong cultural awareness and language skills
Certifications (Preferred, but not Required)
- Executive Leadership Certification
- Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt
