We are seeking a strategic and driven Sr. Engineering and Maintenance Manager to lead and optimize the maintenance and engineering functions of a gypsum wallboard and plaster manufacturing plant. In this high-impact role, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety, and continuous improvement of plant operations by aligning with World Class Manufacturing principles and corporate objectives.
Position Responsibilities
Departmental Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and execute a comprehensive departmental strategy aligned with corporate goals
- Lead, coach, and motivate maintenance and engineering teams to deliver operational excellence
- Drive efficiency improvements, cost-savings initiatives, and CAPEX projects
Maintenance & Plant Operations Management
- Oversee all maintenance activities to ensure minimal downtime and high equipment reliability
- Ensure compliance of physical assets—buildings, grounds, and equipment—with environmental and fire prevention standards
- Implement and expand lean manufacturing practices using Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)
Capital Projects & Engineering
- Manage all plant engineering functions including design, cost estimation, capital planning, and project execution
- Lead capital improvement initiatives from conception through construction and completion
- Collaborate with corporate engineering and site management to drive technical innovation and plant upgrades
Compliance & Stakeholder Coordination
- Serve as the primary contact for government agencies and compliance inspections
- Coordinate closely with production, warehouse, purchasing, and other internal departments to align maintenance and project schedules
- Ensure successful implementation of projects while maintaining product quality and safety standards
Prerequisites
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, or Automation preferred)
- 6–10 years of leadership experience in engineering and maintenance within a manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated success with P&L responsibility for maintenance and capital project management
- Experience with SAP or other CMMS systems
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication and organizational change management skills
Certifications (Preferred, but not Required)
- Lean Manufacturing Certification
- Six Sigma Certification
