We are seeking a driven and experienced Operations Manager to lead machining, welding, and assembly operations within a fast-paced precision manufacturing environment. This role will be instrumental in ensuring production schedules, quality standards, and continuous improvement goals are consistently met. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in CNC machining operations, excellent leadership abilities, and a hands-on approach to solving problems and driving performance.
Position Responsibilities
Production Oversight
- Oversee day-to-day machining, welding, and assembly operations
- Develop and manage production schedules based on customer requirements
- Coordinate with outside processing vendors to ensure timely workflow
Team Leadership
- Lead and manage a team of 10–15 production and setup staff
- Train, evaluate, and support team members to meet operational targets
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and high performance
Maintenance & Equipment Management
- Oversee maintenance and repair of equipment to ensure operational reliability
- Identify equipment needs and implement upgrades as necessary
Quality & Problem Solving
- Resolve production, quality, and equipment issues quickly and effectively
- Lead initiatives to reduce waste, improve quality, and increase efficiency
Continuous Improvement
- Drive lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
- Collaborate with senior leadership to support company growth objectives
Prerequisites
- Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in CNC machining or discrete parts manufacturing
- Proven ability to manage production teams and meet delivery, quality, and cost objectives
- Strong background in shop scheduling and production planning
- Experience with job shop ERP systems preferred (JobBOSS2 or similar)
- Estimating and quoting experience is a plus
- Hands-on CNC programming skills with CAM software such as Mastercam, CAMWorks, or Esprit preferred
- Solidworks experience is a plus
- Must possess a high level of motivation and a strong desire to contribute to business growth
Certifications (Preferred, but not Required)
- Lean Six Sigma certification
- CNC Machining Certifications
- Production and Inventory Management (CPIM)
- Project Management Professional (PMP)
