We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Plant Manager to lead the overall operations and performance of a large-scale manufacturing facility. The Plant Manager will be responsible for overseeing daily plant functions, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, managing budgets, and executing strategic initiatives aligned with company goals.
Position Responsibilities
Safety Management
- Ensure implementation and enforcement of safety protocols across all departments
- Promote a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with OSHA, TOSHA, and internal standards
Plant Operations Oversight
- Manage day-to-day operations, including shipping, receiving, production, maintenance, and supply chain
- Monitor key metrics such as OEE and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure adequate staffing and work closely with HR on recruitment and retention efforts
Strategic Execution & Compliance
- Lead execution of manufacturing and operational strategies that align with corporate goals
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and environmental health standards
- Support daily KPI reporting and resolve operational challenges as they arise
Plant Budget Management
- Monitor facility expenses and maintain cost control across all operational functions
- Develop annual budgets, monitor spending, and provide regular financial updates to leadership
- Oversee plant P&L and identify opportunities for cost savings and improved efficiency
Leadership & Team Development
- Foster cross-departmental collaboration with HR, Procurement, Quality, and Sales
- Create an open, empowering environment with transparent communication and clear expectations
- Provide coaching and mentorship to build a strong internal leadership pipeline
- Ensure ongoing training and skills development programs are in place for all plant staff
Prerequisites
- Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, engineering, or a related field, or 10+ years of relevant manufacturing experience
- Proven ability to lead large manufacturing operations and drive measurable performance improvements
- Strong knowledge of ERP systems (preferably Dynamics NAV/BC), MRP, MPS, and production planning
- Experience in operating and maintaining CNC milling machines and production equipment
- Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (ISO:9001) and Lean Manufacturing principles
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Industry knowledge of railroad products is preferred
Certifications (Preferred, but not Required)
ASCM Certifications (CPIM, CSCP, CLTD, CTSC), Six Sigma Green or Black Belt, LEAN Manufacturing Training
