We are seeking a Mechanical Designer to contribute to the design and development of precision machinery from concept to final release. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who excels at translating technical requirements into manufacturable designs, collaborating across teams, and ensuring high-quality engineering documentation. The successful candidate will join a team of skilled designers and engineers working on complex, customized machine tool projects.
Position Responsibilities
Design & Drafting
- Create conceptual and detailed designs for machine assemblies and sub-assemblies.
- Translate verbal and written instructions into CAD models and technical drawings.
- Submit approval designs for customer and internal stakeholder review.
Bill of Materials (BOM)
- Generate and maintain accurate BOMs for projects.
- Ensure part availability and compatibility by collaborating with procurement and production teams.
Engineering Documentation
- Maintain control of engineering documents in accordance with company procedures.
- Apply GD&T and work within the metric system to ensure precision and consistency.
Material & Manufacturing Knowledge
- Utilize understanding of heat treatment processes and materials in design choices.
- Integrate machining best practices into design to support manufacturability and performance.
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with program managers, suppliers, production staff, and customers.
- Support the engineering team in ensuring projects are completed accurately and efficiently.
Prerequisites
- Associate’s degree in Engineering, Mechanical Design, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in mechanical design within a manufacturing or machine tool environment.
- Proficient in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Strong drafting skills and understanding of machining processes.
- Ability to interpret and apply GD&T and metric standards.
Certifications (Preferred, but Not Required)
- Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP)
- GD&T Certification
- Mechanical Drafting Certification
What the Role Offers
- Salary Range: $85,000 – $100,000
- Perm Placement Fee: 25%
- Standard work schedule: Monday–Friday, flexible between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM
