We are seeking an experienced IPG Category Manager to lead the strategic sourcing and management of critical raw material categories across North America, with an annual spend ranging from $50–$150 million USD. This high-impact role is responsible for developing category strategies, managing supplier relationships, mitigating risk, and driving business continuity across multiple business units.
As a key contributor, you will engage cross-functional teams, lead negotiations, and implement supply agreements that align with corporate goals. This role requires a strategic mindset, strong analytical capabilities, and the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
Position Responsibilities
Strategic Raw Materials Management
- Oversee sourcing strategy for key raw materials across seven sub-business units and over 13 sites.
- Manage categories such as Acrylic Resins, Phenolic Resins, Green Binder Resins (including citric acid, corn syrup, maltitol, sodium hypophosphite), Batch & Additives, and others.
- Present category strategies and monthly supplier recommendations to the IPG Management Team.
- Establish long-term supply strategies aligned with business forecasts and site needs.
Supplier Management & Negotiation
- Lead all RFP processes using ProSource and ensure all contracts are documented in ProcureNet.
- Negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers; challenge cost drivers and secure competitive pricing.
- Implement formal supply agreements with support from Legal, EHS, Finance, and R&D teams.
- Monitor supplier performance and take corrective actions to avoid production disruptions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with R&D, EHS, and manufacturing to identify cost-saving opportunities, support new product development, and address environmental initiatives.
- Align with global sourcing teams (e.g., GIM/Paris) for market intelligence and strategic coordination.
- Drive cross-BU strategies for common raw material categories to increase leverage and value.
Risk Mitigation & Compliance
- Identify potential supply chain risks and develop contingency plans.
- Ensure full compliance with regional purchasing policies and internal control frameworks.
- Support CO2 emission tracking and supplier sustainability initiatives.
Market & Performance Analysis
- Analyze market trends, supplier scorecards, historical performance, and forecasting data to inform sourcing decisions.
- Track and report on category performance, budget, and cost-savings initiatives.
- Prepare and deliver reports and presentations to executive leadership and finance teams.
Corporate Social Responsibility & Reporting
- Support Saint-Gobain CSR initiatives, including Ecovadis ratings, Supplier Charters, and sustainable sourcing programs.
- Provide accurate and timely inputs for budgets, RF reporting, and strategic planning.
- Lead monthly purchasing staff and operations meetings and contribute to sourcing governance routines.
Prerequisites
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
- 5+ years of experience in strategic sourcing or purchasing, ideally in manufacturing, construction, or plastics industries.
- Proven success managing high-value, complex categories and vendor negotiations.
- Strong understanding of the P2P process, contract management, and supplier relationship management.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong time management, analytical, and conflict resolution capabilities.
Certifications (Preferred, but Not Required)
- Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM)
- APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)
- Lean Six Sigma Certification
- Sustainability-related certifications
