We are seeking an experienced Industrial Maintenance Technician to support the ongoing maintenance, repair, and improvement of equipment and machinery within a dynamic wood-working manufacturing environment. This role is key to ensuring operational efficiency, minimizing downtime, and upholding safety standards across the facility. The ideal candidate will bring strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills and a proactive approach to preventative maintenance and process improvement.
Position Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance & Repair
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems on woodworking machinery (e.g., CNC routers, saws, planers, sanders, edge banders).
- Perform emergency repairs efficiently to reduce downtime.
- Conduct routine inspections and ensure optimal machine functionality.
Preventive Maintenance
- Execute scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) tasks on all production machinery.
- Maintain accurate PM records, including completed work, parts used, and time allocation.
Troubleshooting & Diagnostics
- Use diagnostic tools such as multimeters and oscilloscopes to identify system malfunctions.
- Read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics and documentation.
- Collaborate with other departments to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow company safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and industry best practices.
- Conduct safety inspections on machinery and report potential hazards.
- Foster a culture of safety through consistent training and communication.
Documentation & Reporting
- Keep detailed maintenance records and update work orders and spare parts inventory.
- Provide timely communication on equipment issues, delays, and resolutions to supervisors.
Prerequisites
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Technical or vocational certification in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing maintenance role—preferably within the woodworking industry.
Technical Skills
- Strong mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting skills (MUST HAVE).
- Experience with CNC machinery, PLC systems, and industrial control systems.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
Soft Skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of safety procedures, including lockout/tagout protocols.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and operate machinery for extended periods.
- Capable of lifting tools and materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working in environments with moderate noise and dust.
Certifications (Preferred, but Not Required)
- OSHA 10/30
- Industrial Maintenance Technology Certification
- Electrical or Mechanical Journeyman Certification
- Forklift Operation Certification
