Chicago Sawmill Supervisor Overview:
The Chicago Sawmill Supervisor shall direct, coach, oversee the activity of the sawmill associates. The Chicago Sawmill Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring the mill functions properly and under safe practices. The Chicago Sawmill Supervisor will direct associates to perform actions in order to meet production goals while minimizing costs in the safest manner. The Chicago Saw Mill Supervisor will report to the Operations manager.
Chicago Sawmill Supervisor Job Opening:
- The Chicago Sawmill Supervisor will direct associates daily to perform actions within the facility to meet production goals.
- Ensure that all associates are appropriately training the operation of equipment and maintaining a safe environment.
- Develop policies and procedures for proper shop etiquette to ensure a safe and clean work environment.
- The Chicago Sawmill Supervisor will develop procedures to ensure product quality.
- Work with associates and solicit feedback about potential quality and safety improvements.
- Foster an open and honest work environment where associates are comfortable raising concerns.
- The Chicago Sawmill Supervisor will lead and participate in new safety trainings and process improvement seminars.
- Hold regular meeting to communicate news, changes, or other important information.
- Develop materials for new associates to learn proper shop procedures.
Sawmill Supervisor (Chicago Area) Job Requirements:
- An associate’s degree or a technical apprenticeship would be preferable for this position.
- At least five years of experience in a sawmill setting.
- A minimum of three years of management experience.
- Exceptional understanding of best practices for safety within the mill.
- Demonstrated history of implementing quality manufacturing processes.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Great organizational skills, able to manage several priorities at a time.
