The Chicago Mechanical Engineer will perform engineering tasks for assigned products. The Chicago Mechanical Engineer will take on projects according to business needs. Projects generally focus on improve quality, production efficiency, safety, durability, and other areas. The Mechanical Engineer will seek to improve products and processes in order to minimize costs, maximize efficiency, and preserve quality. The Mechanical engineer will be responsible for providing project updates to key stake holders.

Chicago Mechanical Engineer Job Opening:

The Chicago Mechanical Engineer will plan, develop, and implement manufacturing processes.
Collaborate with personnel at facilities to develop efficient, safe, high quality production processes.
Ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
The Chicago Mechanical Engineer will meet process engineers to collaborate and determine clear areas of improvement.
Assign tasks and provide direction to support personnel when support personnel are assisting with projects.
Perform research to select process equipment.
Partner with purchasing personnel to select materials and other supplies for projects.
The Chicago Mechanical Engineer will collaborate with engineering colleagues to attain feedback on process plans.
Partner with plant quality personnel to minimize the frequency of nonconforming parts.
Take part in continuous improvement projects and events.
Collaborate with materials engineering personnel to develop new products and other projects.
Perform other duties as necessary and directed.

Mechanical Engineer (Chicago Area) Job Requirements:

A four year degree in the field of engineering from an accredited university.
At least five years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial facility.
At least two years of project management experience.
Familiarity with the building materials industry would be preferable for this job.
Familiar with the Microsoft office suite of programs, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
Comfortable working in cross functional teams.
Familiar with process flows.
Demonstrated ability to develop strong presentations.
An understanding of Six Sigma principles.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
A deep understanding of manufacturing best practices, and other common concepts.
