Detroit CAD Designer Overview:

The Detroit CAD Designer will utilize customers’ design specifications and other information in order to develop customer drawings as well as tooling drawings. The Detroit CAD designer will utilize NX software to develop and keep record of models and drawings. The Detroit CAD Designer will work with OEM and Tier 1 customers to ensure that all necessary data is received. Additionally, the Detroit CAD Designer will provide assistance and support to the engineering department.

Detroit CAD Designer Job Opening

The Detroit CAD Designer will develop drawings and models for products at every stage of the develop process, particularly proposal, prototype, and production.
Expedite Quote drawings as necessary or directed, issue drawings to customers and all other appropriate personnel.
Take part in pre-quote meetings with sales and engineering personnel.
The Detroit CAD Designer will keep the drawing approval process controlled by receiving sign offs on all drawings.
Provide assistance and support to sales and engineering personnel as directed.
Assist with continuous improvement programs and initiatives. Implement changes to designs to improve final products.
The Detroit CAD Designer will assist with the creation and approval of the bills of material.
Load CAD designs and prints into web portals for customers.
Check product lifecycle management software for updates regularly.
The Detroit CAD Designer will provide feedback on a weekly basis for all project progress.
Manage and prioritize work in order to meet deadlines.

CAD Designer (Detroit Area) Job Requirements:

An associate’s degree in drafting or a related area.
At least two years of previous experience as a CAD designer.
Able to read and interpret blueprints and other technical documents.
Excellent mathematical skills.
Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
Familiar with computers and the Microsoft office suite of programs particularly Word and Excel.
Excellent CAD and NX software skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to speak about technical details with internal and external personnel.
Understanding of basic engineering principles.
