Chicago Design Engineer Overview:
The Chicago design engineer with develop new manufacturing equipment and improve the design of equipment for material handling processes, coating application, saw and sanding, and packaging. The design engineer will design both mechanical and controls equipment design. This role will be best suited for a cross-functional engineer. Communicate and coordinate with vendors to attain equipment for the facility. The Chicago Design Engineer will work with little direction and oversee several projects simultaneously.

- The Chicago Design Engineer develop plans for the installation and layout for equipment and processes, buildings, and other structures.
- Serve as a liaison to the construction team and provide assistance in evaluating mechanical systems.
- Develop a project estimate, project schedule, and submit a expenditure report to be reviewed.
- The Chicago Design Engineer will determine the scale up of process design necessary for production.
- Develop and submit request for quotes for manufacturing equipment.
- Contact vendors and other businesses to solicit installation and estimation cost quotes.

Design Engineer (Chicago Area) Job Requirements:
- A four year degree from an accredited university or college.
- At least seven years of experience in a design engineer role.
- An understanding of mechanical building codes.
- Familiar with installing and programming PLC systems.
- Able to develop designs and drawings in AutoCAD, strong drawing skills are preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to relate to others and communicate effectively.
- Able to work on projects independently with little direction.
- Familiar with Microsoft office suite of programs, particularly, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, and Word.
- Strong organizational skills, able to manage several projects at once without missing deadlines.
- Familiar with the National Electric Code
- Understanding of machine design standards and specifications.
- Understanding of OSHA regulations and standards for equipment.
