Detroit Manufacturing Engineer Overview:

The Detroit Manufacturing engineer will work closely with product development staff to create effective manufacturing processes for new products. The Manufacturing Engineer will design and lead the creation of the manufacturing process. Additionally, the Detroit Manufacturing Engineer will take part in the process of Engineering Change Management. This role will also support continuous improvement activities to make processes more cost effective and more productive. The Manufacturing Engineer will work closely with Quality staff to rectify errors in the manufacturing process that may be causing quality issues.

Detroit Manufacturing Engineer Job Opening:

The Detroit Manufacturing Engineer will work closely with product engineering staff leading up to the production of new products.
Work with product engineering to determine the manufacturability of new products, provide design for manufacturability assistance.
Work closely with quality, production, and maintenance staff while developing new manufacturing processes.
The Detroit Manufacturing Engineer will ensure that new manufacturing processes are designed with attention to ergonomics.
Develop and distribute flowcharts for new or modified manufacturing processes.
Develop standard manufacturing practices.
Distribute manufacturing process documents.
The Detroit Manufacturing Engineer will analyze issues with the manufacturing process and perform FMEA as necessary.
Establish specifications and requirements for production equipment.
Ensure production equipment and processes are properly built and set-up.
Oversee the delivery and installation of all new equipment.
The Detroit Manufacturing Engineer will regularly perform analyses of processes and make suggestions to improve the cost effectiveness and productivity of processes

Manufacturing Engineer (Detroit Area) Job Requirements:

A four year degree in engineering from an accredited university.
At least five years of manufacturing engineering experience.
Proven project or program management experience.
A high level of technical aptitude for products and processes.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
An understanding of plastic injection molding manufacturing.
Experience working for an international company is a plus.
Comfortable working in cross-departmental teams.
Strong organizational skills as well as strong ability to manage several projects concurrently.
Lean Six Sigma training and certification would be preferred.
High level of familiarity with AutoCAD
