The Detroit Senior Plastics Engineer will serve as the injection molding subject matter expert for the facility. The Sr. Plastics Engineer will work with the injection molding technical staff to train and coach their professional development. Another main focus for the Detroit Senior Plastics Engineer will be to seek ways to improve quality while minimizing costs. The Sr. Plastics Engineer will work with quality staff to administer audits and improve manufacturing processes.

- The Detroit Senior plastics engineer will coach and lead the injection molding technical staff.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for the field of injection molding within the facility.
- Lead, direct, and mentor technical personnel.
- The Detroit Senior Plastics Engineer will analyze injection molding processes in the facility and will suggest new injection molding techniques to improve quality and reduce costs.
- Prepare and lead training for tooling, process, and plant requirements.
- Develop and deliver trainings on the intricacies on injection molding manufacturing.
- The Detroit Senior Plastics Engineer will develop and refine plans to reach first time quality as well as operational efficiency.
- Receive and review customer requirements, develop manufacturing plans to reach those requirements.
- Develop standard manufacturing processes and ensure those processes are properly performed.
- Train and direct technician in new processes.
- The Detroit Senior Plastics Engineer will utilize statistical methods to project manufacturing requirements and potential.
- Identify opportunities to reduce or contain costs.
Senior Plastics Engineer (Detroit Area) Job Requirements:
- A four year degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited university.
- Seven to ten years of experience in manufacturing and injection molding environments.
- Able to lead and develop a staff of manufacturing personnel.
- Experience meeting quality standards and implementing cost improvements.
- Great analytical reasoning skills.
- Lean/Six Sigma training, green or black belt certification would be preferable for this position.
- Great communication skills.
- Exceptional familiarity with AutoCAD and 3D-modeling software.
