Detroit Sales Engineer Overview:

The Sales Engineer will be responsible for driving revenue for the company through consultative and technical sales approaches while working out of Detroit. He or she must explain in-depth and complex machines to customers in an attempt to get them to believe in the company’s products. The Detroit Sales Engineer will also have a great responsibility in handling customer service functions, as he or she will need to frequently liaison with engineers with clients for various job orders. The Sales Engineer will be supporting functions on how to bring more sales to the company and will be working within the Sales and Marketing departments in Detroit. The Sales Engineer will be reporting to the Michigan Sales Manager.

• The Sales Engineer must explain advanced and technical concepts to customers in order to generate sales and establish great business relationships.
• The role will help support business development functions for the organization.
• The position must periodically travel out to customer sites and networking events outside of Detroit, Michigan in order to establish great relationships and further the company’s presence in the motion control and automation industry.
• The Detroit Sales Engineer must conduct technical presentations on company products.
• The role must work with customers in order to determine their needs and specifications of products.
• The position must figure out problems with equipment sold and consult with the customers on how to resolve those problems.
• The Sales Engineer will complete special tasks and duties as assigned by the Sales Manager.

Sales Engineer (Detroit Area) Job Requirements:

• A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering is required for this job (mechanical engineering preferred).
• At least 5 years of job experience in technical sales engineering.
• Experience in automation or motion control is a huge plus for this job.
• Knowledge of machining and fabrication is a plus for this job.
