Detroit Manufacturing Engineer Overview:
The Detroit Manufacturing Engineer will evaluate and improve the manufacturing processes of custom climate solutions at the Detroit, Michigan manufacturing plant in order to maximize the efficiency of the process without compromising quality. The Manufacturing Engineer will evaluate process and performance metrics in order to influence suggestions and develop processes and procedures while on the job.
Detroit Manufacturing Engineer Job Opening
- The Manufacturing Engineer must design manufacturing process in order to ensure the process is efficient, safe, and ergonomic.
- Collaborate with project and account managers to develop processes for each customer system while maintaining a standard manufacturing process for less unique applications.
- Develop new manufacturing processes for unique applications, and improve current manufacturing processes.
- The Manufacturing Engineer will partner with other engineering staff, especially quality, to ensure that new processes take all variables into account.
- Collaborate with quality engineers and technicians to improve manufacturing processes and minimize defects.
- Partner with senior staff to schedule shut downs and start ups in order to minimize cost and productivity effects.
- The Manufacturing Engineer will monitor manufacturing processes at the Detroit site to seek areas for improvement or innovation, ensuring that processes are efficient, safe, and ergonomic for various jobs.
- Evaluate data gathered by quality assurance staff to identify areas for improvement.
- The Manufacturing Engineer will collaborate with procurement staff to get new machinery, equipment, supplies, or tools for new processes or to improve processes.
- Maintain a current understanding and knowledge of manufacturing trends and process improvements through membership in professional organizations, attending classes or workshops, attending conferences, and other performing other professional development activities.
Manufacturing Engineer (Detroit Area) Job Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, or a related field from an accredited university or college is required for this job.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing or process engineering role, experience in a custom manufacturing environment is preferable for this job.
- Exceptional communication skills verbal and written.
- Able to work with personnel is procurement, quality, and project management departments and understand their concerns.
- Experience with lean six sigma principles, certification is preferable for this job.
- Proficient with Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook).
