We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Controls Engineer with hands-on experience in industrial automation, control systems, and robotics. This role will design, program, troubleshoot, and maintain automated control systems while supporting system integration, commissioning, and customer service activities. The ideal candidate will have experience with Allen Bradley or Siemens control platforms and be comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Position Responsibilities

Controls System Design & Programming

Design, program, and troubleshoot industrial automation control systems.
Develop and modify PLC and HMI programs using Siemens TIA Portal and/or Allen Bradley platforms.
Program and integrate Fanuc robots for automated manufacturing applications.
Perform system upgrades, retrofits, and modifications to improve system performance.

Automation & System Integration

Integrate PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, robotics, and other automation equipment.
Work with industrial communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Profinet, and Modbus.
Support motion control and PLC-based motion applications as needed.

Troubleshooting & Field Support

Diagnose and resolve complex controls and automation issues.
Provide on-site technical support, service, troubleshooting, and repairs.
Respond to urgent service requests and provide remote technical assistance when required.
Travel to customer locations to support installations, troubleshooting, and system improvements.

Testing & Commissioning

Conduct system testing, validation, commissioning, and start-up activities.
Optimize control systems to meet performance, safety, and operational requirements.
Identify opportunities for system improvements and increased automation efficiency.

Documentation & Training

Create and maintain detailed control system documentation and service reports.
Develop troubleshooting and maintenance documentation for future reference.
Train client personnel on system operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance procedures.

Safety & Compliance

Ensure control systems and service activities comply with applicable safety standards and regulations.
Follow industry best practices, including relevant requirements such as NFPA 79, ISO 13849, and IEC 61508.

Prerequisites

Minimum of 3 years of experience in controls or control systems engineering.
Hands-on experience with either Allen Bradley or Siemens PLC systems is required.
Experience with Siemens TIA Portal and/or Allen Bradley PLC programming.
Experience with Fanuc robot programming and integration preferred.
Strong knowledge of industrial automation and control systems.
Experience with PLCs, HMIs, and industrial communication protocols.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
Experience providing field service or technical support preferred.
Ability and willingness to travel to customer sites.
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with customers and internal teams.
Experience in manufacturing or industrial automation environments preferred.

Certifications (Preferred, but not Required)

Siemens PLC/TIA Portal certification.
Allen Bradley/Rockwell Automation certification.
Fanuc robotics certification.
Industrial automation or controls-related certifications.
Safety-related certifications or training.
