We are seeking a strategic and experienced leader to oversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing operating systems and workforce competency programs. This role will drive operational excellence by establishing standardized processes, developing organizational capabilities, and ensuring manufacturing teams have the tools, knowledge, and skills needed to achieve consistent performance.
Position Responsibilities
Manufacturing Operating System
- Develop and lead a comprehensive manufacturing operating system focused on operational excellence, standardization, and continuous improvement.
- Establish consistent manufacturing processes, standards, routines, and performance management systems.
- Drive adoption of best practices across manufacturing operations.
- Monitor key operational metrics and identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, cost, and delivery.
Competency Development
- Develop and implement competency frameworks for manufacturing roles.
- Identify capability gaps and establish training and development programs to address them.
- Partner with operational leaders to strengthen technical, leadership, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Establish methods for assessing and tracking employee competency and development.
Continuous Improvement
- Lead initiatives focused on Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, waste reduction, and process optimization.
- Promote structured problem-solving and root-cause analysis throughout manufacturing operations.
- Facilitate the sharing and implementation of successful practices across teams and facilities.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Partner with manufacturing, engineering, quality, supply chain, and other functional leaders to achieve operational objectives.
- Provide coaching and guidance to leaders responsible for implementing operating system practices.
- Communicate progress, performance, and improvement opportunities to senior leadership.
Prerequisites
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Business, or a related field.
- Significant experience in manufacturing operations, operational excellence, continuous improvement, or a related leadership role.
- Proven experience developing and implementing manufacturing operating systems.
- Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience developing workforce competency frameworks and training programs.
- Strong analytical, strategic planning, communication, and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive organizational change.
Certifications (Preferred, but not Required)
- Lean Six Sigma certification.
- Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt.
- Lean Manufacturing certification.
- APICS/ASCM certification.
- Other relevant manufacturing, operations, or continuous improvement credentials.
