We are seeking a highly skilled Tool & Die Design Engineer to support the design, development, and optimization of advanced high-pressure die casting tooling solutions. This role combines engineering design, simulation analysis, manufacturing support, and customer collaboration to ensure successful product launches and continuous process improvement. The ideal candidate will have experience in tooling design, CAD modeling, casting simulations, and working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality manufacturing solutions.
Position Responsibilities
Tooling Design & Development
- Design and develop dies, molds, tooling systems, fixtures, and related components for manufacturing operations.
- Create and optimize gating systems, runners, venting, cooling channels, and other tooling features.
- Ensure tooling designs meet quality, performance, and production requirements.
- Support tooling modifications and improvements to enhance efficiency and product quality.
Engineering Analysis & Simulation
- Perform flow, thermal, and solidification simulations to validate tooling designs.
- Analyze manufacturing challenges and identify opportunities for process optimization.
- Use engineering data to improve tooling performance, reduce defects, and increase productivity.
- Support root cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
Design for Manufacturability (DFM)
- Conduct DFM reviews and provide recommendations to improve manufacturability.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize product designs.
- Ensure tooling designs align with production capabilities and quality standards.
- Support new product introduction activities from concept through production launch.
Customer & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with customers, engineering teams, suppliers, and manufacturing personnel.
- Translate technical requirements into practical manufacturing solutions.
- Participate in design reviews, project meetings, and technical discussions.
- Provide technical guidance throughout project execution and production startup.
Documentation & Project Support
- Prepare and maintain engineering drawings, specifications, reports, and project documentation.
- Track design revisions, simulation results, and project milestones.
- Support procurement activities through technical reviews and supplier coordination.
- Ensure compliance with company standards and engineering best practices.
Prerequisites
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 3–5 years of experience in tooling design, die design, manufacturing engineering, or related fields.
- Experience with high-pressure die casting, tooling development, or advanced manufacturing processes.
- Strong knowledge of CAD software and engineering design principles.
- Experience collaborating with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
Certifications (Preferred, but not Required)
- Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP)
- Certified Manufacturing Engineer (CMfgE)
- GD&T Certification
