We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Estimator to lead the preparation of accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial, industrial, and infrastructure electrical projects. This role is responsible for analyzing project specifications, reviewing drawings, coordinating with vendors and subcontractors, and supporting project teams throughout the bidding process. The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple estimates in a fast-paced environment.
Position Responsibilities
Cost Estimating & Bid Preparation
- Prepare detailed electrical cost estimates based on project drawings, specifications, and scope requirements
- Analyze labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs to develop competitive pricing
- Review bid documents and identify project risks, gaps, and opportunities
- Assist in preparing proposals, bid packages, and project documentation
Project Analysis & Planning
- Interpret electrical plans, blueprints, and technical specifications
- Perform quantity takeoffs and scope evaluations
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to ensure estimate accuracy
- Support budgeting and preconstruction planning activities
Vendor & Subcontractor Coordination
- Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations
- Develop strong relationships with suppliers and subcontracting partners
- Negotiate pricing and review scope inclusions/exclusions as needed
Cost Control & Risk Assessment
- Evaluate project costs and identify opportunities for savings and efficiency improvements
- Assess project risks, labor productivity, and scheduling impacts
- Maintain updated pricing databases and estimating tools
Collaboration & Communication
- Participate in bid review meetings and project handoff discussions
- Provide technical support and clarification during the bidding process
- Communicate effectively with internal teams, clients, and external partners
Prerequisites
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical estimating or electrical construction
- Strong understanding of commercial and industrial electrical systems
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications
- Experience with estimating software and Microsoft Office applications
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and time management abilities
- Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously
Certifications (Preferred, but not Required)
- Certified Professional Estimator (CPE)
- OSHA Safety Certification
- PMP Certification
- Electrical License or related industry certification
