We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Process Engineer to join our client’s engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in plastic injection molding, with expertise in Scientific Injection Molding techniques. This role is responsible for analyzing, improving, and optimizing molding processes to enhance cost efficiency, quality, and production throughput. The selected candidate will collaborate across departments to ensure consistent, high-quality output through process control and continuous improvement initiatives.
Position Responsibilities
Process Development & Optimization
- Lead process development and validation for all new injection molds using Scientific Injection Molding techniques.
- Troubleshoot and optimize existing processes to maintain part quality and reduce scrap.
- Monitor process performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives for efficiency and consistency.
Collaboration & Training
- Work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to establish stable, repeatable, and capable manufacturing processes.
- Provide technical training and support to Mold Setters, Operators, and Engineering staff on molding processes.
- Participate in cost-reduction initiatives, corrective action teams, and cross-functional improvement projects.
Documentation & Compliance
- Develop and maintain standardized process documentation, such as process sheets.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and productivity standards.
- Recommend mold and equipment design changes and support capital equipment projects.
Prerequisites
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of ten (10) years in an injection molding environment.
- At least eight (8) years of successful plastic injection molding processing experience.
- Strong knowledge of Scientific Injection Molding techniques.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing tools and principles.
- Ability to read measuring devices and interpret blueprints.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Certifications (Preferred, but not Required)
- RJG Master Molder Certification or equivalent.
- Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt.
