Responsibilities:
- Serve as a pivotal resource for employee safety, environmental compliance, and the leadership of plant environmental improvement initiatives in the Kansas City, KS facility.
- Oversee the management of the site’s environmental permits and lead the ISO 14001 program, including coordination and execution of audits.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to continuously enhance the facility’s environmental program.
- Spearhead the site’s efforts to meet the company’s ambitious Energy and Emissions Objectives for 2030.
- Manage assigned environmental and sustainability projects, including developing capital cost assessments, design, and installation plans for new and specifically environmental equipment.
- Ensure effective communication methods for environmental, health, and safety matters, and address employee concerns and suggestions promptly.
Qualifications:
- BS degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field is highly preferred.
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of environmental engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Solid experience in managing environmental licenses, permits, and reporting, including comprehensive knowledge of Title V Air Quality Permits, Industrial Storm Water Permits, and SPCC Plans.
- Demonstrated experience in managing ISO 14001 programs.
- Familiarity with Environmental Protection Agency regulations and a track record of successful environmental information reporting to regulatory agencies.
- Proven leadership experience in implementing improvements or new procedures, coupled with the ability to conduct employee training and presentations effectively.
- Competence in conducting industrial inspections and applying operational excellence principles, such as 5S, SMED, Kaizen, and TPM.
- Proficiency in CAD or AutoCAD and familiarity with process engineering software are preferred.
- Capability to design experiments, analyze statistical data, and prioritize opportunities for savings, throughput, and yield improvements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite is mandatory.
