In this role, you will be providing low vision care to legally blind/visually impaired patients as part of the Visual Impairment Services Outpatient Rehabilitation (VISOR team) and managing a range of ocular conditions, diseases, and injuries. Optometrist Job Opening Responsibilities:

  1. Provide low vision care to legally blind/visually impaired patients as part of the VISOR team and collaborate on treatment plans.
  2. Independently examine, diagnose, treat, and manage ocular conditions, diseases, and injuries.
  3. Order appropriate laboratory and/or imaging studies.
  4. Prescribe ocular prosthetic devices (spectacles, contact lenses, prisms, artificial eyes and low vision aids).
  5. Provide consultative reports to requesting primary care physicians, staff, and specialists.
  6. Refer patients requiring care outside the scope of optometry practice.
  7. Supervise, educate, and train interns, residents, and ophthalmic trainees.
  8. Certify as a reader in Tele-retinal Imaging Program and as a Compensation and Pension (C&P) provider.
  9. Provide administrative support to service.
  10. Take part in optometry clinic patient assessment, follow-up visits, peer review, grand rounds, and strategic planning.
  11. Exercise corporate citizenship by serving as a leader and/or active member on Medical Center committees as requested.

  2. License to practice Optometry in the relevant state.
  3. Prior experience in a similar role is required.
