A top manufacturer is seeking an engineering manager to oversee the engineering team and be an anchor point of contact for sales and engineering support.
Summary:
The Engineering Manager will be mainly responsible for ensuring the engineering team is carrying out processes on-time, in-scope, and providing high quality designs for new products while addressing issues from past products throughout the product life cycle. As well as managing the engineering team, the individual will be a primary part of the business leadership team and will take care of quote-engineering support, customer service, and being a contact for sales.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Complete all aspects of engineering activities.
- Improving products, output, and reducing costs by participating in concept development, proposal quotes, detailed design, configuration definition, verification, qualification, manufacturing specification, and documentation for all activities.
- Give progress evaluations of projects to support engineering team to reach highest possible performance of the end products.
- Assess final results of development projects to make sure objectives are met.
- Able to communicate and interact with other design teams to promote similar objectives and transfer product and technologies between all groups.
- Develop operational objectives and projects with the ability to delegate them to subordinates.
- Develop and keep leading by company policies, which will affect immediate operations, as well as having company wide-effects.
- Interacting with senior management regularly on concerns over several functional areas, and/or customers.
- Coordinating activities through subordinates of the engineering department, with responsibility for best results in terms of cost, methods and employees.
- Other projects as assigned.
Base Qualifications:
- A 4-year Bachelor’s degree and Master’s in an applicable engineering field or at least 4 years of equivalent work.
- At least 5 years of working with custom capital equipment design, including industrial controls (PLC, CNC).
- Strongly advise at least 3 years of management experience.
Desired Qualifications:
- Broad working knowledge of manufacturing automation and machine tooling; experience with robots, 5 axis motion, anorad, Parker, Aerotec, and Rockwell controls.
- Previous project management experience with use of software and tools and/or a PMP certification.
- Degree in Engineering Management.
- Gaining support from top management by strong communication skills and ability to communicate these goals to influence others.
- Ability to drive and increase individual/team performance by coaching and engaging your team.
- Would like a candidate who can take ownership of decisions with incomplete data available to you or in a new situation.
- The courage to determine and initiate change when needed and communicate this difficult message.
- Desire to always learn new things and passion for the industry while staying up to date on latest industry trends, technology and approaches.
- Ability to imagine and come up with new or unique solutions to problems and keeping and open mind in trying other’s new ideas or solutions.
- Always focusing on the end results or solution for the customer and/or the business.
- Must be knowledgeable in Microsoft Office products to keep up with system and efficiency in email and the internet.
- Demonstrated written and oral skills are important for everyday functions.
- High attention to detail and ability to balance tasks while staying focused with each project.
